MCSS Citizens’ Academy
On Friday, February 15th, Greenville Middle High School hosted the second session of the MCSS Citizens’ Academy. The Citizens’ Academy is a free interactive program designed to familiarize the general public with the roles, services, and operations that comprise the Meriwether County School System. The program focuses on educating residents, business owners, and interested persons who live and work in Meriwether County on how daily school system operations contribute to building a better community.
The session hosted at Greenville Middle High was entitled “Teacher, I Know the Answer” and focused on curriculum, technology, and instructional programs. Mrs. Elise Heaton, GMHS Instructional Coach, and Ms. Belinda Godfrey, GMS CTAE Department Chair, gave a presentation to the participants who attended about these topics, focusing on the progress the schools in the district have made with curriculum development and technology integration. The participants also heard from several middle and high school students about their experiences using technology in the classroom and were then able to tour several classrooms to see this in action. The session ended with a robotics demonstration put on by some of GMS’s 8th grade students.
